Took a drive around Noon today and checked at the 2nd, 6th and 9th or Oro-Medonte.
At the 2nd, someone had been out about 50ft and spudded a hole and came back in. I walked out 10ft and didn't like the sounds coming from the ice.
At the 6th, no one had been out and there was a big wet spot about 100ft from shore. Obviously a crack and water coming up.
At the 9th, someone had spudded hole about 10ft from shore and another about 50ft. I walked out about 10ft and once again didn't like the sounds coming from the ice.
AT THIS TIME, THE ICE DOES NOT SEEM SAFE--SO STAY OFF!!!!

SD . Awesome report !
K-Bay might be ready but defantly not anything past the third line ...
Sad to say it may be a repeat of last year fishing the deeper waters . Hoefully some people will have more brains and stay off it espically in Nw wind blowing over 25Km.
Lots of currents out that way past the third line ...

When I checked the ice yesterday, I had selfish reasons==I was hoping that I might have been able to fish at the 2nd of Oro today.
Based on what I saw and as the ice seems to be developing slowly, I suspect it will probably be sometime next week before there is the "walking" minimum of 4 inches. It is supposed to snow today, so that "insulation" will slow development even more.
I won't be near the ice again this weekend-got some fiddling and square dancing to do, so maybe someone else can keep an eye on things over the weekend.
