We are going to head out of VB this afternoon. Hopefully the fish are hungry!! If you see us, say hi. We have a Kingfisher 3 blue hut. I have put the Lake Simcoe Outdoors logo in my registration number pouch for easier identification. I'm in a red jacket and hubby has a jacket that says "Fibre Clean" on the back. We are also hoping to get out Saturday around noon at either VB or PB.

I went out from Casey's today on my ATV. Lots of folks out fishing. I went well past all the permanent huts and past all the other portables. As far as I felt I should. Measured my first hole... still had 9" of ice. Didn't have electronics with me, but I figure I was in 30 - 40 f.o.w. water clarity was not that good. Lots of pearch action. Nothing worth keeping.

We got back a couple of hours ago. Fishing was slow with lots of small ones. We had a few 8"ers and a couple of 10" which all went back. There was about 20 cars/trucks parked on the ice but tomorrow might be crazy. There were a few sleds and atv's out there but also a couple of vehicles out on the lake. Not thick enough for us. We drilled 11" of ice with most of it clear but I would like at least a few more inches.

The water was very murky. We were only in about 8-10 fow and we couldn't see the bottom. From what we heard from everyone else, all they were catching were small perch. One guy had just spoke with his friend fishing PB and they were getting the same thing. Maybe it was the system that's going thru??

MNR were waiting by the lake access and stopping all fishermen/fisherwomen and looking at fishing licenses and any kept fish.

The current snow on the ice made it a little more difficult to walk but I don't think they are suppose to get a ton of snow like we did in the GTA. When we left at 5pm, there was just light flurries which we had most of the afternoon. By the time we hit Chalk Lake Rd, snow was coming down real good and quite slippery. At least we didn't have to go East with all the traffic from 401 being closed but traffic was still slow.

I think we might go out of PB tomorrow. I don't think we will make it for 7am but will try to get there early enough. The fishing slowed down this afternoon so maybe the morning fish will be more active and hopefully some jumbos will be mixed in. FSHN FRK, are you going to head out towards Casey's huts or go somewhere else?
