Ok, I know that everyone wants to keep their secret fishing hole a secret, but my son and I have reconnected and we have decided to spend some quality time ice fishing. I have no idea where I should be going or what to use for bait! If anyone can help me make our time more enjoyable, I would appreciate it. We fished today with no luck.

Welcome to the board, glad you found us. It's a pretty general question you ask. For starters, may I suggest you read the fishing tips found at the top of the page and then tell us what kind of fish you're after and what direction you're coming from.

Where were you fishing? For what species? Give us some info so we can help, Lake Simcoe is pretty big, I am in Innisfil, can help you out on this side.

We started over at Jackson's point. We were only looking to fish for perch but a guy sent us way out and before we knew it, the other guys around us said we were n the white fish and laker beds. We were only using minnows so other guys said to fish closer to shore. Nothing there so we went over to Keswick off Old ?????????? Road. Lots of guys fishing but they said most were small. After looking at what others are posting pics of, I would like to try for lakers or whites. Any suggestions?

Yes, some are doing very well for Lakers already. Personally, I can't suggest you go out to the Laker/Whitie spots just yet unless you are properly equipped to check the ice as you go and wearing floater suits etc. The ice is barely thick enough for walking and still inconsistent. With that out of the way, watch the board to see where people are going and what's working. Common access points include Innisfil Beach Park, Bear Point and the lines of Oro. Bear Point access has a killer of a steep hill. At any of those points just look for the crowds.
