Lake Simcoe shore access for lakers/whities?

Now seeing all those pics of big and nice lakers and whities from some of you guys, I can't wait no more:-). Have to go out and try my luck on the Lady. So far after my 4-years-only ice fishing I have not caught any lake trout through ice, and I have only landed one single whitefish.

I am NOT asking for where your honey holes are nor info like once on ice walk left or right or straight out or how far from shore or water depth, but just would like some plain info on access from shore considering:


* At this point in time, which access points are better in terms of safety (due to ice thickness at the moment), and

* parking is not too difficult (paid or not)


It does not matter if such an access point in general would or would not lead to spots for good laker/whitie fishing at the moment. I am just asking for some relatively easy access from shore.

I think so far I have heard a few access points like:

BBP (Big Bay Point)
BP (Bear Point)
Shanty Bay
Kempenfelt Bay
IBP (Innisfil Beach Park)
Ore-Medonte Line 1, 2, 3, 4,..., or 15?
(Any other?)

By the way, of the locations I listed above, I have only been to IBP. The rest on the list? I don't even know the name of the street at the end of which to park and then walk onto ice!....

PS: If you don't feel comfortable you don't have to reply nor pm me to disclose any info at all, and I can fully understand that.

Just a short walk off the 2nd line from the parking to the lake which surprised me as it was my first time-tons of people there.The weekdays should be no problem at all.Alan

2nd line was ridiculous! guys parking above ridge road this morning.

shortest walk to laker/whitefish grounds is bear point/oro line 2. Bp is parking on guest road (off big bay point road) and walking down billy goat hill.

another good access point is the 7th of oro, but its a lot longer walk.

You should be fine walking off any of these access points tomorrow, but only time will tell how the ice will react to the warm temps we have coming.
