My brother and I were fishing up at my cottage. We get to this point and are casting the same spinnerbait. He casts at the shoreline and sets the hook, his line is left flapping in the wind. He says I must have snagged, I say no way, pike! We argue about it for ten min or so. (Brothers!) We pull around the other side of the point and I cast at the shoreline, set the hook and a beauty pike around 10lbs launches out of the water. I land it and as I reach down to take out the spinnerbait I see 2 skirts, and 2 hooks?? I start laughing. He says cool give me my spinnerbait. I say no way you snagged yours and lost it! Ah brothers! Cheers!

Ok, so 2 years while on Temagami, I go to the day hut for some evening walleye action.
Was tough to mark fish as the huge piles of rocks on bottom made your lures/minows disappear about 6 feet from real bottom if you know what I mean.
had 2 quick bites just as evening was coming on and missed both....
While rebaiting one line, my other line takes a hard smack and bingo, really decent fish on. 2 minuts later i could feel the fish and my line scraping amogst those rocks.
Suddenly, there was just kind of dead weight and nothing was happing........drag maxed out and could feel fish on still , but could not move it....I am now thinking the worst........that the fish dragged my line under a rock and am now 'buggered'
last ditch effort was to gently pull up hard as possible and thinking well, what else can I do and believing line would snap any second when it came free .sort of.
I could feel my fish on but it was slowy coming up and there was some addtional weight and line slippage going on..........what the heck!
About halfway up I figured that I had snagged someone else's broken off line and it was just jammed into those rocks.
Finally I see my swivel at the hole and 1 minute later I get my fish.a real, nice walleye and i can see a braided line wrpped around my line and the walleye quite a few times.
Dropped the fish into othr hole...(iced over) and began slowly pulling up second line whcih was still glued to bottom but one end was coning up.........hello , hey there is a new st. croix rod and reel coming up. I got it and a few minutes later I popped the line free and .unbelievable a twin walley still alive on the end.
So, a double whammey
Saw the operator next morning on his regular check and we talked and he mentioned they guys there day before us lost a rod down hole on a big fish!
I'll never foget that one
btw, both walleye were released as in slot.....rod/reel not even tho I tried to contact owner to give back

Great stories
I was bass fishing a dock close to the cottage. Threw my Rapala close to a boathouse and WHAMMO - huge hit. broke my 60lb power pro clean off. I haven't had a fish break me off in AGES, so I figure it's gotta be one of those huge Pike that Muskoka is famous for. It was getting close to sun-down, so I went in for the night, ###### that I lost a $9.00 lure. My wife wakes up before I do and heads down to the dock, close to where I got bit off and starts casting towards the same boathouse. She starts screaming she's got a fish - I get up and walk down as she's hauling a quarter-pound smallie out of the lake, with my 7" rapala foul hooked in its side. Got my lure back

Great fish story Michelle. That happens more than you know. We had a perch (no kidding) take a rod last year. It was caught the following weekend, rod still hooked. And yes, the thing was still feeding. Cool.

OK, I'll play
Too long ago to mention (teen years), we were walleye fishing in Northern Ontario...the kind of non stop action you dream about, walleye every cast, over and over. All the fish were roughly the same size and age class, average between 2 and 3 lbs.
I was bringing in another fish, when all of a sudden I was not able to move it...the area was quite weedy, and I just assumed the fish got his head down and I was now going to have to drag in 5 pounds of cabbage along with the wally so I just kept horsing it in, cranking hard to drag the fish to the boat.....
Imagine my surprise when 20+ pounds of pike emerged from the depths with my walleye crossways in his jaws....before we could grab the net, he glared at me and spit my pickeral out and swam away. The walleye was quite shredded, but still alive and kicking! I released him, figured he had earned it
