Went to work Monday morning only to find the freezing rain kept us down for the day. I opted out and took one of my co workers and his father out to try an get then hooked up in their first ever lake trout. I was out and set up in the same spot I had been fishing on sat and sun before they showed up. Just as they were approaching my hut I had my first hook up and landed a beautiful 7 lbs natural laker. The guys set up their hut and it was 30 min later I hooked up again. This time an aggressive trout chased the half and half Williams up to 40 ft. I handed the rod to my buddy and he iced a nice 5 lbs laker. Not 10 minutes later another streak and wham, a hog on the chase. Gave the rod to my buddies dad and he proceeded to fight this laker for 10 minutes. After a dozen runs to the bottom we finally had him where we could see him an boy was it big. Unfortunately my buddy's dad let the line go slack and we ha a quick live release... He was just happy to have the fight if a lifetime... Headed in shorty after that as the weather deteriorated.
