well... back in the city after a successful ice fishing trip,, the first of what will be an annual tradition. we spent the weekend in a four man hut with smitty's ice cabins... the weather made the drive difficult both going up, and again coming home,, but fortunately we had great weather while we were there.
i cant say that we had the success of many of the other posts i read before going, in terms of fish, but we did catch some, and definitely partied a lot!
Dave did a great job taking care of us, giving us tips and advice, and cleaned the one pike that was caught,,,,
we also landed several perch, a couple of herring and a few walleyes. oh, and 2 mud puppies.
hope to find a few minutes tomorrow to post a few pics...
thanks to everyone in the group for the advise you gave before going up..
and good luck to everyone who is still looking forward to their weekend adventures.

Hey man, I'm heading to smitty's this weekend. Sounds like you had a great time which is awesome. Although it is a little worrisome that you didn't catch much fish lol. Did You speak with anyone else in other huts while you were up there? We're they catching fish?

Thanks for the report JDizzle, sounds like you guys had a great time if you are planning on turning this into an annual trip. The cold weather that moved in last week probably slowed the fishing down a bit from the previous weeks but it sounds like you still made out okay. Looking forward to your pictures.

yeah,, we had a great time,, first of hopefully many to come,,,
we did hear of other cabins catching more fish than us,, probably due to the fact that we were excited to be up there and we making a little too much noise for the fish,, scaring them off,,, as we settled down the bites came a little more,,,
as for the bites we were getting they were mostly all off a minnow and hook...
dave was a good operator.. kept us happy and laughing,,
