hey man,
I go out perch fishing all the time and never never never use minnows. I cant be bothered to go out and buy minnows and store them everytime I go out.. so all I do is jig. jig jig jig all day long and hit good numbers of jumbos usually everytime Im out... when buying jigs usually buy colors that the fish will feed on in the lake you are fishing... example for simcoe if they are feeding on shinners then get a silver colored lure/jig of some type.. and jig the crap outta er to get their attention then let it sit and wait for them to hit... a good sonar is always helpful as well cause you can see the fish there right before they hit it... anyways good luck and bigger fish will come your way...

Gettin better
seet pics as well.
How much ice you have there?
can you get out deeper.like 30-40 FOW?
The ice is 8 to 11" but today had made it go down a inch or two. There is one spot in the bay it is 23 or so feet of water but could not find due to the water is down this year two or so feet. The deeper water is a challenge to get too for me because of the not so cold weather and the south winds but I think if things get better with the weather I maybe able to get from Brechin to get some white fish good spot out @ 70 or more feet of water. It has been a long time fishing there.

Yes my hut is out there it is a tan one and fish like that no but you never now . But over to grape ils. maybe it is 20 to 30fow out that way but ice is not good right now the wind that comes from the south pushed the ice in a bit, the ice is jagged.
