With the warm temps and the rain, how do you think the ice will hold up for this weekend? I was going to go out Saturday and Sunday but now I'm not to sure.

Was out today the ice is fine and won't change under these conditions that much... The colder temps will harden the surface right back up. Don't worry she's not going lose ice that quick..

It should be fine , like Ohj said she won't lose that much ice that quick. Plus it will go back into the minuse temp thursday. Just call up one of the hut operators close to where your going out on.

I was closer to Beaverton sittin on at least eight inches and one spot about twelve inches... Fished port bolster sat and seen a hut operator takin guests out in his mini van... So sleds and quads are a go for sure... Seen them out in trout grounds already.. Have had my quad out for two weeks now...

You will get your best answers on Thursday.....after the warm front pushes thru.
There are some hihg winds coming in as well which may create some presuure cracks etc. on the thinner stuff, but the ice the guys wer talking about wont' disappear.
I'll be checking as well and head up as soon as I know it's good to go

was out with Steve's huts and the ice was 9" to 10". to give you all who are wondering about the ice, well i seen a small propeller plane landed. it was there for a while an then took flight again. its safe enough for sleds an quads

Hey Garfield, just an FYI. The weight of a small plane is probably less than the weight of a sled and the weight is much more spread out. I just don't want others to feel the ice is overly safe because a plane landed on it.

Was on Thorah Island all weekend and the pressure cracks were opening (12")and closing (where the ice was sliding over by 3'-4'). Be very care when traversing from morning to afternoon. I also recommend checking with the local hut operators that the rain hasn't ponded on the ice with a fresh frozen crust. These can be pretty spooky driving over in your sled (when the water is a foot deep) and you break through crust the to the main ice layer below. Ice averaged 10" + on the east side so should be good.
