Welcome! As a newbie to ice fishing, I wouldn't start by fishing Kempenfelt Bay with no experience. You should try an ice hut operator to be safe or an area where operators have their huts out. BUT not to close to them and don't drill holes or fish in the middle of their ice roads / high traffic areas.

i agree with admin you should try a hut operator,or team up with a local that knows the ice,or go where the crowed of people go,,keep an eye on this board for reports or ice conditions,,you dont want to venter out on a lake with out knowing much about it,,or call the hut operators and they will tell you if ice is good for walk out in certain areas...

Yep! Great advice!! Hut Operators make it fun, and gives you the opportunity to "learn" a bit first from those who know! Hard-water is a different ball-game, and with patience and safe practice, you'll be walking for miles, dragging your gear, drilling holes......i think you get the picture! Enjoy the warm hut and frying pan while you can!!!
