I really think you should give it a couple of days for the cold weather to freeze things up....Lots of water on top of the ice and any holes will become big holes. Also fairly wide pressure cracks out there over deep water. There are warnings on this Board to stay off the ice until it tighens up.....Read some more Posts on the different areas. Personally I won't be going fishing for at least 5 days. I like being safe and alive to fish another day.

Yes, very string winds and some snow today. I am planning on heading out this Saturday but will wait until tomorrow and decide then where it's favourable to go out. Hopefully with the dropping temps all the surface water freezes and adds a few inches to the ice. The winds on the other hand, we could do without..

agree,,very windy out here on lake st john,,cant even see lake from the house its blowing so bad,,ice is just starting to freeze back up,,if wind dieds down it will tighten up faster
