Hi Folks:
Today I stood on the same spot on Snake Island looking NW towards Barrie and I observed the following after nearly 24 hours of brutal wind: it appeared that from a point half way between Snake and Fox Islands the ice might have broken up during the wind storm and reformed. The whole area as far as I could see appeared to have been mixed up with a mix master and looked incredible rough and I suspect the ice in this area will be very thin at best and perhaps there maybe areas of open water - which is a major difference from what I observed the day before.
Personally, I will be taking a wait and seek approach before heading out on the ice.

Thanks for the on the spot report Nancy. I was afraid that might happen somewhere out there. Unfortunately that has possible repercussions on other areas. Please stay put and be safe!
