I have been out on scugog a few times and not catching much except 3" perch. Anyone else having better luck. I have seen a few crappie on the ice, but no big slabs and walleye, forget it.

When we did our first ice fishing excursion, Scugog was the first lake we rented a hut. That was 3 years ago and all we were catching was dinks. Reading other post from other forums, that is what most people are catching now. They get the odd good day it seams but they were few and far between. That is why we mainly fish Simcoe now. It is a little further drive but the quality of fish is worth it.

What's the ice like out there this year?? we are thinking of finally putting the hut out this weekend, but we haven't heard how the ice is, or how the fishing is. Scugog has been pretty slow the past couple years, but 3 years ago is was normal to catch 10 or more walleye in a night, and couldn't keep the Crappie off our lines. Not sure what had changed. Hopefully we aren't wasting out time dragging the the hut out. Any info would be helpful, thanks!!

I have read reports of average 10" of ice. I'm sure that will vary in some areas.

Way to much fishing pressure on Scugog. Weren't they going to stop fishing for an allotted time to give the fish a break? Thought I saw an article on that....

Put the hut out last weekend, south of Valentia. Had about 10-11" of ice. Got a couple hours of fishing in, managed to get a nice sized wally before we left. Heading out this weekend again, hoping the ice is still in good shape, I took a walk out to the hut yesterday and almost got blown away, but I didn't measure ice. Can anyone tell me how thick it is? I'm guessing with the weather yesterday and today we had to of gained any back that was lost at the start of the week. Thanks all!

Thank-you for the fishing reports. I only managed to get out once to Lake Scugog this winter. I did ok for perch and caught a bass, no crappie or walleye. I was there for the morning bite only. I will give the afternoon/evening bite a try next time.
