Was up at the cottage again this weekend and decided to head out on Sturgeon Lake for some ice fishing. Fishing was alright over the weekend landing about 22 perch and one walleye that of course immediately went back. A few of the perch actually had some size like the picture attached.

There was tons of ice everywhere. A few holes had over 16 inches of ice. I think I dulled the blade on my manual auger......either that or (let's be honest) I just got tired drilling the holes.

Does anyone out there catch any Crappie on Sturgeon?

That's a nice perch for Sturgeon. We've caught a few big ones in the summer so they are out there. We have not tried ice fishing for crappie but do fish for them in the spring. There are some big slabs to be caught with my biggest being 13". Just need to find them.

Oh yeah, getting dragged by the wifey to Lindsay this weekend (even though I told her I may only have a couple more weekends to go out on Cooks) - is there convenient (walking) access to the lake on the south side near Lindsay? I don't know if I'll be able to get a 'hall pass' if I gotta travel too far!

Hi Marv,

I'm not sure about walking out from Lindsay. There is lots of easy access out by Pleasant Point though.

There is probably a lot of current towards Lindsay as well. People have also been fishing from Long Beach catching perch.
