I mean before season is closed for laker and whitie on Simcoe at midnight this coming Friday, March 15th, I am thinking perhaps I shall have one last try on my luck to land my very first laker ever and/or my second whitie ever?

Earlier today at work I asked for a "sick day" leave this coming Thursday March 14th (because again, I know I will be sick of no fishin' for 3 or 4 days by then:-).

Not sure where to go just yet (I guess the main concern is shoreline access ice condition), and I'd like to head to some access point with shorter walk on ice to some laker/whitie ground. Perhaps Shanty Bay/Line 2 of Oro? Or?

I will be sick on Thursday also. I will probably be heading out from bp. Shoreline permitting of course. I need another laker to make my season a success. Smell of skunk is getting annoying.

I too will be sick, told my boss the doctor said I was coming down with a case of (Salvelinus namaycush fever) aka Lake Trout Fever.

Going to travel down and give er one last kick at the can. As everyone knows, a bad day fishing is always better than a good day at work.

Shanty Bay and BP have been dead.........

I would go to Oro 4, I did well out there on Sat. Yesterday was slow.

There are monster schools of bait fish in between 60-95ft of water.

I would focus here.....

Shoreline was fine when we left at 6pm. Ice was holding well with lots of water on top but still 11" of good solid ice.

Rapalla's had some intrested but caught me no fish.

All were taken on a white swammer, rippin it off the bottom up 30 ft and yoyo a bit and let it sit and wait for them to sky rocket.

I was going to change the colour of the swammer and ripped it up quick to change and I see a line comming up. Came from 100 ft to 30 ft in 1 sec and fish on.

Good luck James and may the force be with you!

This winter my fish came off the 7th of Oro and believe it or not, Shanty Bay where I caught my Whitie last week.

Good luck!

Rob

Thanks everyone. I will see. I am off fishin' this coming Thursday for sure (to recover from/cure my sickness:-). It will be a matter of where I go, I guess based on ice condition and if daughter would like to go with me, like going somewhere for laker/whitefish myself, or heading to some shallower water for ppppeeeeerrrrrccccchhhhhhh with daughter (who is sitting the "March Break" at home this week)

I would join you if it was Friday.

I have appointments Thursday.

Keep us posted on ice conditions, I am going to walk out from Oro side too.

Been doing OK this year with swammers on BBP side but it has been work getting the hits.

Where do you park at the 4th?

Ha, thanks.

I just asked daughter if she'd like to join me this coming Thursday, and she replied: "Yeeeeees!". So I think we two will head to one of those Oro Line's and try my luck again on lakers/whities for a few hours, then head back to Barrie for lunch, and then on our way back home stop at Gilford or Lefroy area and fish some more for perch (just so daughter will catch some fish:-)

Hey James
Watch out for the wind on Thursday.
Forecast calls for 30-35 kph out of the NW.
If not for the wind, I would come and join you.
Too much wind for my liking.

Good Luck James. I'm with SDC, if that wind forecast holds, it will not be pleasant out there.
