Hi guys,
a group of 14 of us just booked a 4 day weekend up there for the later part of June. Anybody ever been or any comments on the Lodge and especially the fishing in that area?

never been to that lodge in particular but fished the french river lots. Pike are every where. had trouble finding the walleye but when we did catch one we were trolling also caught the odd nice sized Bass and had a great time none the less. good luck.

Slingshot, Fished there last June for the bass opener. Harald the lodge owner was great. If you haven't been there before, listen carefully to Harald, as he will tell you where you can and can't go safely.
As for the fishing, it was pretty decent. Go up the Wolseley River to the left of the lodge. Lots of bass deep in the reeds/lily pads. Used topwater, texas rigs, worms, minnow and leeches. The fish went nuts over the leeches until we (and the lodge ran out due to the warmer weather). Watch the sand bar (in the centre) and rocks along the opposite shore line as you head towards and under the bridge. Drive slow!
Out in the main waters fish for smallmouth where the rocks and weeds converge in around 8-15' of water. When you find the right depth, mimic it elsewhere and you should do well. I know it sounds a little old fashioned but don't be afraid of using bobbers for the right depth.
Pike were biting pretty much everywhere. With the largest our group (12lbs)caught in the mouth of a little bay just east of the five finger rapids. One of the guys caught one around 10lbs between Alkatras Island and about 10 yards in front of someones boats house.
Only caught a few walleye with the biggest one (around 6lbs) caught right out in front of the lodge. A rainstorm had just passed and I was talking with Harald when he suggested that I just drive out in front of the lodge, where 2 points come together (literally at the end of his docks) and just drift up the north side with a minnow. A few minutes later and bang. A few minutes later and we had a 5lb pike. One of the guys that works at the resort for Harald has a cottage just up that shoreline and he regularly catches them right off his dock.
