Well when a lot of memebers were sitting facing their computer trying to figure out the number for the LSO contest (congrats Nicole) I was out doing some fishing. I made my way out on to the lake around 630. When I got to my location and I could see this big big bird on the ice at first thought I thought it was a big ol' turkey but then I smartened up and figured there would be no way it would be a turkey so far up north. So on a closer inspection I was able to determine it was a big mature bald eagle. Very cool to see so close. So after admiring the bald eagle I finally got my lines down and within 10 minutes boom fish on. I run over and pull up a nice 5.1 lbs pike. So I get back to my jigging hole and have a few little hits and lost a couple minnows. But no takers. So about 30 minutes later I'm jigging with a minnow the boom my Ice 45 lights up and within second fish on. I reel up a nice 15 inch pickerel. Sat for a little longer with no bites so I decide to pack it up as it was a snow storm and I couldn't see the house lights on 150 feet in front of me.

Great report Elk hunter, nice fish.
Always nice when you get a chance to see a bald eagle, we vacation down in Cape Breton a lot and we see them regularly down there. Attached are a couple of pictures I took down there of some eagles we saw.

Well after some studying for my Exam I decided to head out to the lake to go fishing again. I got there around 6:30 and fished till 830. I didn't get to see any special wildlife like last time but it was still a good night. I was sitting jigging at my hole and I noticed my tip up rigged with a red stick just bounce so a ran over and pulled the line darn missed it. Put a new minnow on and went sat back down jigging about 5 minutes later my red stick was going again so I ran over and sat and watched the stick and waited until the line was going down to set the hook. Boom fish on and it felt like a good one. I got it up and it was a nice walleye. Put another minnow down and went back jigging. Look over again at my tip up and it was bouncing again so I run back over and crap fish was gone. I put a new minnow on and went back jigging. Not even 10 minutes late bang fish on the jigging rod as I was bring it up my buddys dog was with me right at the hole when the fish came up which I could tell was another nice walleye Gunner (dog ) decided to put his paw down the hole when he was looking down the hole and I lost the walleye so I was a little mad but oh well I didn't get skunked.
So in total I caught one nice walleye and lost 3 in about 2 hours of fishing.

Great reports!!! My dog in Mexico would chase the small ones I released back into the surf, sccop'em up, and bring them back and lay them at my feet. Maybe Gunner could benefit from a lesson in retrieval.

He is actually a golden retriever which is going to be trained. He is too young right now to start training but hopefully when he gets trained he might grab the fish for me rather then knock it off
