On Sat, I was going to go out again and fish my usual shore spots in Kingston, But got a call from Backwoodsmanbob, who was going to fish the Bay of Quinte so I joined him for a day in search of Quinte gold. Met Bob at the ramp at 8am and we headed out. Did not take long and Bob had the fish walleye in the boat, landing a nice 15" fish. We did a few drifts in the same area and didn't catch any more. Meanwhile the wind and waves kept blowing us off course. The winds were strange, was suppose to be 15 knots N / NW but they kept changing directions and gusting probably to 30 knots. We decided to head to a more sheltered area. Fished the "sheltered" area for a few hours and again the winds seemed to change direction, and the gusts would move us off course. We did manage to land quite a few fish at this spot, toughing it out. But they were all panfish and some real nice sized drum. Bob did all the schooling landing and catching about 10 drum, one fish near 7-8 lbs.. I managed 2 drum, biggest about 4 lbs. Tons of fun with light gear and a good fight. We decided to try another spot for the afternoon bite and I managed to land another decent walleye 15" and some white bass. It wasn't a stellar day on the Bay of Quinte, but we did our best and had a great time.. Thanks again Bob for taking me out, with good company and good fun as always..
