Went out with a buddy this morning. Had a loose plan of launching out of Queenston, and fishing the Bar at the mouth of the lake.
Tried the bar for a while with minnows. Then trolled around flatlining. NADA!
I had the line counter rods on board, and dipsy's, jet divers, and the spoons I bought off of Shank.
So what the heck, let's try for salmon. Good decision.
Ran over towards Port Dalhousie set up and started trolling. 10 min in, I got this little one for the BBQ.

We trolled for a while longer, and look who we came across......LONG SHANK!

Waved, said hi. I don't think he knew it was me.
He said 45-55 feet was doing good. What a nice guy. That's the zone we were fishing. Lol
Just after that my buddy hooks into a tank! We had to chase it or it was going to spool the line counter. After 25 min he gets it to the boat, it's huge. He fishes salmon quite a bit and said he's never got one bigger. We guessed it at 30+. I say guess because we weren't planing on salmon fishing and only had a little basket net. I bumped it off try to net it. I felt so bad.
My budd was good about it, said we were going to let it go anyway.....but a pic would have been nice. Lol
Ended up 2-4, not bad for a couple hours. Going again tomorrow.
Cheers!

Hey Mark,

Looks and sounds like you had a great day. If you did that well on the lures Shank was getting rid of, I wonder how he did with his favs

Too bad you couldn't get a pic of that big one, but at least the memories will last at least until the alzheimer's kicks in!

Good Job Mark getting out on the big water..

Nice Salmon, perfect BBQ size..

Sorry you guys lost the big one, but I can imagine the excitement and the scream when it got away... Heart pumping, trilling, wide eyed, every emotion in a matter of minutes.. Priceless..

Oh, so that was you!

Didn't se any LSO hat on , so didn't recognize you.

A thirty sounds huge and would have been leading the local derby, but they are tough fighters and we took a 24 that day in that area along with some others.

The lures I sold are all of my favoutites when they work

Nice day to be out there for sure as was Sunday.

Oh, I for sure believe ya, especially when doing the net job and fish that close.

Heartbreaker for sure

You need a salmon net then

I did look at the board. That one just ended and a new one starts today. Is that right?
Great derby for the entry fee.
