Hi everyone, One thing I should have mentioned in my Lake O report was the large debris field that we battled while fishing out of Port Credit on Sunday.
There was not only every type of garbage you can think of there was also some very large trees and man made items as well. Oh ya, we even saw a coconut float by ???? Some items would definitely cause some major damage to your bottom end or worse if you hit this stuff. Since it was glass calm it was easy to spot but a little chop and you would have a brad time seeing much of this stuff. The field was just West of Port Credit harbour between 70 & 90' and was quite a large field. With the rain we are having today it is probable that more debris washed out. It also could have moved toward Bronte so take it easy going out of either location until you get into the deeper water.

The coconuts are purposely thrown in the rivers / water, I see them float by all the time while river fishing. Something religious, but not sure which religion or custom. I was just told that by another angler when I saw a lovely bunch of coconuts...

Jerry, that is Soooooo bad. You don't want a visit from the godfather do you
Sorry it's a pdf - TRCA only has a pdf of this info which warns about the dangers of throwing such religious offerings into rivers- FYI I have also seen the rose / flower petals, lemons and other items..

Thanks Jerry, Lundman and I were trying to determine what river most of the debris came from but with your comment about the religious act I am sure I know which river now. To be clear to all we saw some serious hazards not just garbage large trees branches and even a 8' section of what almost looked like a cut telephone poll. Very dangerous for both the machinery and individuals.

A very good report Craig.
If I was home to those waters, you could have saved me a grand in bashed props.
As for the coconuts, that IS just wrong. Religeous or not. Pollution by definition is something that does not belong. Coconuts are tropical and our waters are being polluted with those now? Plus, it's a bloody hazard to navigation.

Thanks John, I don't think I made it clear enough in my original post as to the danger. I can tell you that Chris did all the rod set ups and changes but one of us always had to have eyes over the bow due to the floating obstacles even at 3 mph. We Actually had to zig zag through it on the way back to port.
