Met up with Bob at about 08:30. It was the first trip of the year for his boat so we spent some time getting things all in place and ready to go. Bob has a very fine craft, 26 ft SeaRay Sundancer. She looks and handles bigger; SeaRay build solid heavy boats. We headed out to about 100 ft. of water and set up the riggers and lines. At about 10:45 the port side rod goes off and Bob hands the rod to me. I bring in a nice little Bow, perfect eating size. It was bleeding profusely so in the cooler on ice it goes. About half an hour later the port side rod goes off again and I bring a nice little Coho to the boat where it comes off, oh well, that’s fishing. Now it’s Bob’s turn and nothing happens for several hours. At about 2:30 we decide we’ve had enough sun and started to troll our way back to shore. On the way in the starboard rod makes its contribution and Bob brings in another nice little bow. Unfortunately he got a hook in his finger so dealing with that became the priority. We added the fish to the cooler and continued in.
Overall it was a fabulous day to be out on the water, brilliant sun in an almost cloudless sky, just enough wind as the day went on to put a nice chop on the water and an all around great guy as Captain and friend. I guess you can tell, I loved every minute of it.
Most of the bait balls we marked were around 40 ft down but there were some all the way to the bottom. We did not mark a lot of fish but they were also seen from about 40 ft. all the way to the bottom. All three fish we hooked came at 40 to 60 ft over about 100 ft. give or take. Can't tell you what lure I used, Bob made it himself. He said, it always catches fish and it did

Great job guys, Nice pics and a sharp looking craft Bob. Glad you both enjoyed your day and picked up a couple nice bows. It seems it is still tough fishing out there, that water column is still not stabilized?? I expect the fishing will be prime just about the time the derby starts.

We didn't see very many other boats Craig. The ones we did see appeared to be searching for fish and not finding. We were close to last to return, if not the last.

That sounds like a mirror day to the one Lundman and I had a couple weeks ago. You even picked up those active fish at the same depth and in the same FOW that I noted. Did you guys see any hooks near the bait balls, we saw only one near a bait ball the entire time we were out. All others we saw were all over the water column. Very strange for his time of year.
