Haven't posted in a while. Just got back from our week on South Bay. Fished every morning out of Promised Land Camp from July 7 - 12. Had all kinds of fun. Fished for walleye in 30 - 34 feet of water using chartreuse jig with a stinger. First couple days were a little slow but still got into some.

We couldn't get out in the main lake on Wednesday morning due to wind and rain so we left the kids at the cottage and my brother and I worked the weed bed in front of our cottage right near Wade's Landing Marina. What a great morning that was. The pike were hungry. We got about 8 or 9 and last a few more. Great action. This is me with a nice one.

And now the highlight of the trip. My brother caught this beauty. A gar pike - first time we've caught this species. Just a cool looking fish. Wasn't easy to land as the net w had was a little small but we managed.

All in all was a great week on the lake. Linda and Henning once again provided incredible service at Promised Land Camp. Great folks! Also Marc over at Wade's Landing Marina was very helpful as usual helping my brother pull his boat out of the water and taking the time to inspect a little damage under the boat. Watch those rocks - not all marked.

Awesome Gar Pike JayRay....I heard those were tricky to hook...I was just there a few days ago eyeing up those shallow week beds out from Wade's Landing! Didn't fish them though. I have to admit. I also am very impressed with Marc over at Wade's landing. He is top notch, so anyone who needs gas, snacks, help, or anything else fishing or boating related, be sure to give him a visit.

just wondering how many walleyes are you allowed to keep? I thought the new limit is 2 per person per day with a sport license. If there's 12 in the sink then it was 3 days limit for 2 guys. Just wondering. Anyways looks like a productive trip. Congrats on the gar too and the northerns.

I should have clarified in the original post. Figured I would be asked about that sink full. There's actually 14 in the sink - a combined effort between our rented boat and my other brother's own boat. He had 2 0f his kids with him and we had a couple of our kids in our boat. Total of 7 lines - and yes limit of 2 each is the new limit.
We didn't bring the kids with us when we went for pike as we didn't feel like removing hooks from our own mouths and ears - the kids can be a little dangerous when casting.
