I am new to this board... I live in Pennsylvania and make 1 annual trip in august... I understand musky guys don't "kiss and tell" but curious if anyone has some good trips this summer? Last few years have been tough!!

There definitely are Musky in Nip but they can be illusive. Hopefully, some of our many fine members will reply with a little info at least. In the meantime, browse the forum and fising tips at the top of the page.

Hey monman, Also from Pa. and make at least one trip to the south shore every year since '77. While Muskie are truly a fish of a thousand casts we have been doing very well on big pike fishing weedbeds and using big bucktails and spinnerbaits. Will be heading up this Saturday and staying the week with best fishing buddy, his son and my son who are now in their mid 20's but have been with us since they were kids. Maybe will see you on the water-good luck

Was up in South Bay for the opener in June for 10 days and had a very tough go of it. Only one landed and a couple follows to show for the effort. Seems like there's been a lot more musky fishing pressure when we've gone up the last few years. Have been going up there from Ohio since 97.

Hope you guys have better luck than we did!

Welcome TopRaider. A Buckeye added to the mix Thanks for joining. Sorry you didn't have better luck, I guess that's why it's called fishing and not catching. Please acquaint yourself with the board rules and most of all enjoy our forums..

Am from Western Pa near Pittsburgh and one of those darn Pens fans. Our group has gone to a few other Canadian lakes but always come back to Nipissing. Have made a number of Canadian friends and have done nicely catching some good fish. We release all pike and musky and try for some walleye for a meal or two. Am looking forward to next Saturday throwing some lures then sitting on the porch with the boys and a single malt.

Nothing against the mighty lady Nipissing but personally I find the Trout Lake beside it better for them fishies of a thousand casts . Often you can even see them laying in the reeds there first thing in the morning . There some big girls in the swim there .

Musky have been picky this year from what I hear....whether it be from fishing pressure, freaky weather, water levels? The fall usually brings on the bite in the "usual" spots for these monsters.

Trout Lake and Lake Nosbonsing are two lakes in the area that also produce some nice size muskies. Lakes are smaller and more defined that Nipissing.

Good Luck guys,
