New member here, just saying hello. I've been fishing Lake Nipissing for the last 15 years or so and it has become one of my favorite vacation spots to get away to. Although many people I've talked to over the years speak of its slow decline in walleye population and how the lake "isn't what it used to be", I've yet to have a fishing outing where I come home disappointed. The sheer size of the lake alone, I find, gives so many options when it comes to fishing and inables anglers to target many species using extremely different tactics.

We get up to the lake twice a year fishing Calendar Bay each spring out of Tamw Kwa (great folks) and one summer trip to South bay. Spring always produces a good walleye count fishing Smith Island and the flats in front of North Bay while the summer see a lot more bass and pike fishing in the shallower waters of South Bay.

I'll be heading up for five days next week for our summer outing on South Bay amd will once again target some big bass and pike. I've not done a lot of walleye fishing in the summrs but plan to head out to the main lake this trip and give it a shot, I'll make sure to post my reaults with pictures.

On that note, any suggestion of general areas/depths to target walleye this time of year? I alway end up fishing the shoals in the gull island area with mixed results.

Jeff

Welcome aboard CND007, good luck next week and let us know how you did when you get back. We always like to see the fish porn as well.

I have only ever hard water fished Nipissing so I cannot help you with your walleye hunt but there are many other great members on this site who may have some advise for you.

Tight lines.
