Just returned from a very enjoyable weeks fishing up and around the south shore of Lake Nipissing. We mostly fished for pike, but also did a little jigging for Walleye. Fishing was tough, total 19 pike, 3 walleye, 1 bass, numerous perch, and a mud puppy. Biggest 3 pike - 10.5, 8.8 and 7.7. Weather was warm, unfortunately the wind didn't always cooperate, one from the north, most days from west or north west made travelling far kinda difficult, but we always found somewhere to fish. One disturbing sight, three days in a row we watched the "commercial fishery" hall in their nets, long nets, load the catch into coolers and drive of to the next spot while we watched. more disturbing was the fact that we watched one day from 200 yards while they pulled in the net and through what they didn't want back into the lake, the seagulls loved it, don't know whether the fish were dead or alive. All these sightings were within 2 miles from Calender bay, this is much closer to the east end than we have seen them in recent years. Also saw some marked nets out by the Manitous.....Anyway, just our observation, great week never the less, wont stop going unless they close the fishery....theres talk!!!!
