This report is on one of those very rare and incredibly special days that fishermen dream of.
After a solid 2.5 hours of sleep I headed out at 3am, met buddy at 401 and 28 at 4am, and hit Quinte at 6am. Although exhausted getting into one's pb right out of the gate kinda gives that adrenalin boost to keep you going.
First fish of the day a 9-10 # Walleye. As noted my pb, and I'm damn proud (shame buddy is a heck of a fisherman but a horrible photographer). I ended up with 3 Walleye; 2x +9# and 1 x5#. Also my pb Sheepshead, another 10#er.
My buddy caught 5 Walleye, the biggest in the 12# range. Two of his buddies that were out in yaks did mighty fine too going 4/10 and 4/6 respectively. We saw a a boat with two anglers hook up a triple. We spoke with and or saw several other fishermen and everyone was raving about their unprecedented success. Even my buddy said it was, by far, the best outing he has ever had on Quinte.
As for the Sheephead; it was late in the afternoon when suddenly the planer board dives deep. We knew it wasnt an eye and speculated the entire 10 minutes as to what species it could be.
Every rod and every lure produced (Reeef Runners and a type of tail dancer: multiple colours). We caught from 7am til 430pm in all depths between 75 fow and 155 fow. Had we be using a gas motor, rather than a little trolling motor, we would have caught more fish. The lake conditions went from calm as glass to 2' wave with white caps; truly a mixed bag. During rougher conditions we struggled horribly and couldn't get to our spot. We were subjected to watching boat after boat catch as they trolled our desired location.
We kept three of the smallest Walleye and CPR'd the rest, including the big BAABAA.
What more can I say: simply AWESOME!
my pb eye
