So, I've never hunted near lake simcoe, but I've read people hunt on the lake, what about on the ice? I'm possibly going to VB to ice fish Monday, and seasons are open for both duck and geese, what's the legality of this? To me it would make sense if you can hunt from a boat you can hunt from ice... but want to be double sure. From what I've researched VB is in York municipality which allows hunting. So basically, can I legally hunt when ice fishing VB, and is it ethical (as in will I get the cops called on me even if I'm doing it legally because people frown upon it). Probably won't end up taking the gun regardless but just in case...

Monday is rain and a high of 9 degrees. I wouldn't risk going out on decent ice in that nevermind the few inches that formed a week ago. Play safe! Don't know the answer to the hunting part. Sorry.

From what I understand, hunting on ice is no different than hunting soft water. I have done it years ago and didn't run into any problems with the law.

Awesome, although by the looks I won't get out on safe ice before it closes. Maybe the spring goose season....
