Happy holidays everyone! I recently found out that the Ottanabee conservation authority will be banning the use of any trail cams, permanent and or temporary blinds, tree stands and any other structure that has to do with deer hunting on all their properties starting next year. This is a huge bummer for me as I hunt on their property and without those key pieces of equipment it's pretty much next to impossible for me to hunt next year. They're also enforcing that you have an OFAH membership which is understanble since it gives you the insurance. Any one have any thoughts on this? I was thinking of sending a polite email and explain how their ruling will make deer hunting next to impossible for many that use their land, maby an epetition? I'm not sure if it's even possible to change their minds.... any thoughts are welcome

Do you have a link to the actual new rules? Can see banning cameras...... sure their sick of complaints from cameras going missing. Can see banning permanent blinds as it can become a hazard and damage trees. Along with becoming a lumbering hazard with left behind steps. Climbers and pop ups can't be a problem as long as they are removed at the end of the day. Problem is more and more hunters are squeezing on less and less land. Sure these rules have been enacted to limit monopolization of an area by 1 individual. A lot of public spaces are moving to no monopolization rules.

No links yet, I spoke to a gentleman at their head office in Peterborough, I agree with your points about permanent structures, cameras you lose it, your problem I guess don't go bugging them, temporary structures maybe tag them with your name and license number? Sort of like traps under the fishing regulations. They advertise themselves as promoting hunting and fishing and outdoor activities and I'm sure they get tonnes of tax dollars because of it but I mean completely phasing out deer hunting on their propert?
