Lookin for that elusive Wabbitt!

Went out this mornin about 10:00 am on the trail for some cottontail. Lot of hard bushwackin in the deep snow,but the snow shoes made it a good go of it. Lot's of sun and a bit of wind made for a good trek on the bush.
Just missed a deer havin a whiz,lot's of tracks around.

Lot's of Toms runnin around too.

Thirsty work bushwackin,time for a tea break.

Finally I catch a break after an hour or so.

Was hopin for a couple more,but I'll take it anyhow. Yotes around here have been thinning the cottontails
pretty hard.

Hey NG looks like pretty open woods for bunnies. If anything like back home in this deep snow the white bunnies are sitting on the bare ground under the spruce trees. Easy to see as long as the branches don't get too heavy and bend down to the ground.
I just got back fron NS and planned on chasing some rabbits with my bud as he was training a new dog. The weather blew our plans👎 Looks like you had fun though.

And of course we had rabbit stew and home made biscuits for supper.

Hey nsfisher!these woods near me are a mix of pine stands and cedars and spruce. Nice creek runs through it,lots of deer and turkeys.

Sounds nice, all the animals using the cedars near the creek😉
