Hello all, I am pleased to see the higher than expected sign up for this years deer hunting contest. The rules and categories are as follows....
Category 1: Biggest Buck! Each typical point on an antlered deer= 1 point. So 8pt buck=8 points. Non typical points count for 2 points, for example, a deer with 8 points consisting of 7 typical and 1 nontypical will be a 9 point contest deer. The total amount of points gained is your final score.
Category 2: Biggest Doe! Deer folks out there know killing a mature doe can be just as tough as buck of that age class. That being said I want this contest to appreciate the deer that put meat in the freezer. This category is a weight category. The harvested doe must be weighed AFTER being field dressed. I say this to help out the October bow hunters that don't have the luxury of time to weigh a deer with guts in on a warm Early October day.
Rules: 1-You can only enter your deer, not that of a friend or a family member. *Exception* Apprentice hunter who was in direct supervision of yourself 2- Picture of the deer and yourself the hunter with the deer fully visible(if an apprentice has hunted, you BOTH must be in the picture). For Category 2 a picture of the scale weight display must be taken 3-Proof of date in picture whether it is a newspaper of the day or holding up a hand written sign with the date. 4.Contest is open to all members of LSO (Canada and U.S. Only). All federal, provincial, state, and local laws must be followed. 5. Weapons allowed are compound bow, traditional archery, crossbow, shotgun, rifle, muzzleloader, and handgun(where legal.) Follow federal, provincial, state, and local laws regarding firearm use. 6. In the event of a tie for both category 1 and/or 2 a poll among LSO members will be taken. So smile in your pictures.
Please post pictures and information relative to the contest so the thread does not get flooded over the next 3 months. Contest runs from October 1- December 31st. We on this board are ethical, responsible hunters and your posts are to be reflective of that attitude. The utmost respect for Mother Nature in the pictures and comments is expected.
I hope for great success for everybody and for your families and friends to enjoy the bounty of your harvest. Good luck to everyone, and I know we are all very excited for the posts to come in the coming months on this thread.

Never got a weight on her till at the butchers. Minus the head, hide, legs and tenderloin she weighed 120lbs. Same size as my dad's buck!lol Not bad for a broken leg, thought I was not going to make it out this year!
I know I did not get a picture with the weight, but thought I'd share anyway. I got a bonus bear, and had to chase away two calf moose too!
