Very Nice    What were you shooting?

Savage axis .223 53 grain hornady vmax

Nice. Stop-pin power. Good shoot-in.

I have never gone coyote hunting but I'm glad to hear there is one fewer out there. One less coyote is probably equal to tens of living turkeys, grouse, rabits, not to mention the saved deer.

I'm curious why does everyone use a .223? How would a .270 do?

If all you have is a 270 and don't want to buy a coyote rifle it will do the job but will likly do some pelt damage.

My Ruger m77 works fine on Yotes, shooting 130 Winchester,, But don't count on using the pelt for anything..

Thanks for the advice...maybe if I get two yotes there will be enough fur for a set of ear muffs!

Actually I believe quite a few predator hunters use the .270 (max cal. allowed in southern Ont.) very fast, accurate and flat shooting . As Steelheader has mentioned opt for 130 gr. good for deer also (shot my biggest buck this year with 130 hornady handloads)

Max caliber allowed in many counties in southern ontario but not all. Duffern County for example has no such restriction. But if you intent on using the pelts for anything the .223, .243 or 22-250 are the preferred calibers.
