Hey guys I think we need a real definition of,"tree huggers:Many persons that hunt and fish are tree huggers.Where would we be without trees and people who believe in wise management.

I tend to agree. And I find most of the PETA loving, vegan, gluten free, 'tree huggers' spend more time in front of Canada Goose retailer picketing than in the great outdoors.

I'm a tree hugger, and proud of it.

I live in the north end of Newmarket and I had a coyote between my house and my neighbour's. I was walking my not yet one year old black lab. I yelled at it and it just kept walking about 25 to 30 metres in front of my pup and me. Got to a schoolyard and when the coyote got to the treeline it sat down and looked back at me. It was then it realized there were another 4 coyotes beside it in the treeline. I picked up my puppy and made a 90 degree turn and started to walk out of the schoolyard. The pack of coyotes paralleled me until a couple of other dog walkers came into sight. Not 100% sure if the five coyotes would really have tried taking myself and my puppy on or not. But was damn released to see those other people.

If these other dog walkers didn't come along, you would've been in trouble

Not surprised they wanted a piece of your dog. Coyote numbers are on the rise. Once I was in my tree stand at last light looking over a soy bean field. I spotted about 15 coyotes coming across the field coming towards my stand. I stayed in the stand until I thought they were out of the area. I was walking out of the bush in the dark with my bow encased until I heard them howling and yipping nearby. I quickly took my bow out and cocked it with arrow ready in hand. I don't know what I would of done with a bow but I wasn't taking any chances. sorry MNR but I felt I was an easy target for a hungry pack of yotes at the time. I know they don't normally attack humans but 15 of them gave me the heebbeejeebees. lol

this is something i have witnessed first hand....
at a friends up the street playing cards in his kitchen.......his dog is outside barking, like plauful barking,we look out the window and there is a coyote 5-10 feet from his dog,and the dog is happily excited,my buddy shines his flashlight around and at the bush line are many pairs of eyes.....they were trying to lure the dog into the bush!i was shocked

in the last year 6 dogs have gone missing from my street......

be careful!

I had an issue in Oakville behind my parents house. I was walking my miniature poodle at the time along a trail just behind the houses (im talking arms reach from the back fences) and I had a coyote come right up running at my dog. my dog hated being picked up and he jumped into my arms. wasn't a big coyote, but when it got close I yelled at it, it stopped momentarily 10 feet from me, then started creeping up closer and closer till it was about 5-6 feet from me when I yelled and ran at it. it took off but I could hear them in the tall grass walking along beside. I put my dog back down thinking these things see how big I am, (6'2 well over 200lbs) and they wont try it, but as soon as my dogs paws touched the ground one darted out after him from the grass line about 10 feet. luckily I was wearing my work boots (working at the local garden shop required them) as I had just got home from work, I booted this thing when it got close enough right in the mouth and it took off yelping. didn't hear any more noises closer than id estimate around 20-30 feet for the remainer of the 10 minute walk back around to the street again. I would have just hopped the fence but my dog was on his last legs, had bad arthritis and deaf (we ended up putting him down only months later). neighbourhood cats are always going missing and never found.

this year in the area, rabbits are absolutely everywhere, so the coyotes will be back next year. its not a big wooded area, so both populations come and go in waves

I was out golfing with some friends around noon hour Saturday when we spotted a coyote walking across the fairway away from us. I tried calling it by crying like the rabbit in distress call. Well this thing turned around and put its nose down to the ground and was coming towards us. It came about 50 yards before it turned back around and slowly left the area. Now I know this yote knew we were humans when we first saw it. Must have been a hungry bugger to come closer to check things out like that. They are so bold
