So I got my new issue of out of doors 2017 fishing annual and there was a article in it about "don't panic . You're not the only one with a missing T. " On your hunting license So anyways as of January there's no need to take a turkey ed course , said any with hunting license and small game license can by a turkey license and seal. Am not sure that's right , what do you all think?

Hey BF, I raised the same concern a while back when I got my license and no T. On the tread it was stated that anyone who did not already have the training would have to take it and from then on it is part of the hunters safety course. Not sure how they are working the logistics.

Here's the info....
New wild turkey hunting regulations Amendments have been made under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act to enhance and modernize Ontario’s wild turkey hunting program. The following changes take effect January 1, 2017:
A spring wild turkey hunting season will now been opened in WMU 36. A fall wild turkey hunting season will be opened in WMU 94. A fall bows-only hunting season for wild turkey will be open in fall 2017 from October 1-31 in all Wildlife Management Units that have a fall firearm wild turkey hunting season. The opening date of the spring wild turkey hunting season will be April 25th every year. The wild turkey hunter education course requirement has been eliminated and key components will be combined with the broader Ontario hunter education course. Hunters who have already taken the Ontario hunter education course are not required to take any additional training in order to purchase a wild turkey hunting licence. Shot size number 7 can now be used for wild turkey hunting in addition to shot sizes 4, 5 and 6. The minimum bow requirements for hunting wild turkey have been clarified in the regulations to match the requirements for white-tailed deer (e.g. minimum draw weight and length). For more information and maps, refer to the Decision Notice posted on the Environmental Registry.
NOTE TO TURKEY HUNTERS Turkey hunters renewing their hunting version Outdoors Card will no longer see a "T" on the front of their card. The "T" was an identifier to licence issuers that the carrier of the card had completed the mandatory wild turkey training and thus could purchase a wild turkey hunting licence. Wild turkey hunting accreditation is now captured digitally within the MNRF licencing system so the “T” on the Outdoors Cards is no longer needed. Have a question? Call the Outdoors Card Centre at 1-800-387-7011.

You think this is for the ministry to sell more tags?
The course was started when no one had any guidelines to follow when the hunt first started. Now most prehunt hunters have their training and going forward new hunters will have their train through one course. The only problem is the timing. Great that they started the new course program however never should of grandfathered the uninitiated.
