Hi Everyone,

I wanted to share this image captured by my trail camera. I placed the camera next to my feeder. This marten showed up and stayed long enough for a picture. I saw one in the same area during deer season a few years ago.

It's neat to see what's out there. You don't see one very often.

That's a neat shot!
Just wondering if it is a fisher not a Martin. It looks all black in the pic and a Martin would be a bit lighter with a color difference on the chest.
Hard to tell from a distance though.

I wasn't sure either. I had to look it up.
I don't know much about them.
Size?
Adult or juvenile? Not Sure

Fishers are larger than Martins but as TD stated hard to tell if it's a young fisher. To me it looks too dark for a Martin. Also looking from my iPhone so not as easy to see as a CPU.

I'm no expert, far from it but, having gone through a similar "what is it" a few years ago, my vote is for a Fisher as well. Not knowing the site, size is a bit hard for me to be sure of but, as said, the colour is right.

Have seen many martins but that does look like a fisher.

Thanks Guys,

This board is the place to go to for information. I'm not sure if there is a mate to that fisher but I'll report if another one shows up.
BTW the fisher was photographed in the Pefferlaw area.

Saw sign of them in PB when I lived there for awhile so know they are there and seeing your game cam pic from there doesn't surprise me . Bear sign too . I know fishers and marten well because I trap them both . Never saw marten sign that far south but heah to me that is a female fisher or juvenile . I've been wrong before . Colours can vary and not why I think it's a fisher . Trail cams don't show colour very well in that lighting or so I have found .
