Over the years this happens at least once a season to someone in our camp, I had a calf and cow moose about 200 feet behind me when i stood up...

Were you moose hunting or deer hunting. I have seen moose many-a-time when deer hunting. I even had a moose tag in my pocket for moose season. Monster bull moose 30 yards from me. Sadly (and fortunately for the moose), it was not moose season.

And I guess you know how the story ends. Didn't see a single moose during moose season.

yup seems they almost do it on purpose.
Was a slow day in the goose field nothing flying lone bird comes in and I drop it. leave the ground blind to go pick up the bird leaving the gun there as nothing flying. Sure enough by the time I got to the downed bird a flock of 30 drops down on my decoys and me with nothing but stones to throw at 'em. Lesson learn one hand on the gun at all times LOL

was not even thinking of waterfowl, that happens way more, as we hunt more, a lull in the day go grab up the game, they fly in out of no where, my dad used to send me out in the jon boat just to make them come in lol...I started this thread for those caught during natures call etc, I say this all the time, chipmunks and squirrels make more noise then deer and moose, these moose sneak right up on me, should that not be the reverse lol but we are lucky always get 1 bull or more plus the tender viddles
