I'm sorry in my example i didn't explain every facet, i think it was implied they would be properly licensed and fishing for something in season. Hence why in the real life example we're talking about fox/skunk.

Than why bring the gun? If they are grown a## men as you say than you need not baby them. Tell them as it is seasons are closed can't bring the gun.
You admit the is no real expectation less than 1% of seeing a fox so you are not fox hunting.
In all your descriptions there is no real intention to hunt fox. bringing 2 clips of ammo for an animal you state as having less than 1% chance of seeing further contradicts your intention.

I am unsure what has ruffled everyone's feathers lately (no pun intended) across multiple boards and postings with everyone attacking something that isn't immediately within their views, ideologies and opinions.

If people want to sit atop their high horses maybe they should dig their heels into the horse and ride along. The guy asked for some help. You don't want to offer help that's cool. You don't like what someone's doing politely voice your opinion and then leave the dead horse alone. We are all supposed to be on the same team and this is supposed to be a place to get answers, not berated for "supposed" actions or potential to veer outside the law. I am a little disappointed across the hunting and fishing boards lately with all the negativity.

When did encouraging fellow sportsman to take the higher road become a negative? Your right outdoors forums should be a place where sportsman share experience and knowledge to better themselves.
One of the biggest complaints amongst outdoors men is the extensive rules and regulations put upon us.
Most of the rules stem from people unable too show restraint and follow existing regulations or try to utilize perceived loopholes to achieve their selfish goals.
Just look at the fall fishery at Port hope and the current actions taken to restore order there.
provincial parks are a shared resource and to strike a balance rules are in place to separate basically gun users (hunters) and non users .
Thus for true hunters they are allowed to carry their guns during hunting seasons.
This should satisfy and separate both groups.
The OP selfish behaviour will lead to more regulation probably restricting gun carry to specific dates. I just feel bad for that true fox hunter that would lose out.

By making that assumption for everyone asking a question on the forums is a great way to have the forum community go the way of the dodo.

Look Fins, not saying that I don't agree with some of your points, but as long as someone is abiding by the laws, or attempting to abide by them by asking questions. Why assume the worst in everyone's intentions? Even if they don't line up with your morals, again I am not picking sides. Sprite is trying to get help before calling the ministry. That's it. He wasn't taking an Ethics course at UOIT or U of T. At least he is asking the questions to try and abide by the laws. I would rather see this than some yahoo with zero f@%k$ given.

Wouldn't be much of a discussion forum if one didn't look a all sides of a question.
Thing is sometimes one has to read between the lines to get a another's true intentions.
To form an answer one has to critically review what information is given and than deliver an answer appropriate to the situation.
So what is the question being asked here?

What do I need to hunt fox and skunk in a provincial park?

What do I have to say to get my pack .22 through the park gates when its prohibited to carry a gun unless hunting?

Taking the information given and critically reading the responses what do you believe?
One is an honest question to better themselves the other is an attempt to circumvent regulations with some fancy legalize.
I wish ethics was the first lesson taught to outdoors people and it was the point I was trying to get to sprite especially if he wants to be a mentor to others.

I'll call the MNR when it's confirmed that i will bring a firearm to the park provided after that call it seems ok.

I haven't made that decision yet, a lot of that decision comes down to if we're portaging or hiking in and what the final crew looks like. The more noobies i take back woods camping the more crap i have to bring myself and i usually end up carrying it. If my pack is 70lbs and i'm hiking in there will be no firearm coming with me even if rabbit season is open and there's 50 rabbits dancing around our camp site.

Once the logistics line up favourably i will call the MNR.

Based on the pm's conversations i've had with some of the friendlier members of this forum i'm likely to not bring a firearm into QEWII.

I don't think i can reschedule my trip either till rabbit season is open. But we'll see.

I'm an avid back country angler and hunting would take away from that fun as well.

I would recommended making that call sooner than later as most responses take several weeks to process. Also would go the route of and email instead of a call as you would end up with a written response that you could carry on your person.
