Quinte West man fined for deer hunting offences Tweet Share Like A Quinte West man has been fined $200,000 for deer hunting offences.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says Robert Couch pleaded guilty in Belleville Provincial Court on Tuesday to unlawfully using another person’s game seal, unlawfully hunting deer without a licence and failing to immediately attach his game seal to a deer.
He also received a one-year hunting licence suspension, and the remaining deer parts were forfeited to the Crown.
The court was told Couch was hunting by himself on November 28th, 2016, and killed a male deer on a property near Belleville.
However, he didn't attach his own game seal to the animal, but instead contacted another person who wasn't actively hunting at the time.
The second person affixed a game seal to the deer, and then Couch continued to hunt deer alone on various days last December, even though his own game seal should have been attached to the deer he had shot.

You would hope Bob. But it was actually only $2000 he was fine for.
Man fined for unlawful deer hunting
A Quinte West man has been fined a total of $2,000 for unlawful deer hunting offences.
Robert Couch pleaded guilty and was fined $1,000 for unlawfully using another person’s game seal; $750 for unlawfully hunting deer without a licence; and $250 for failing to immediately attach his game seal to a deer. He also received a one-year hunting licence suspension and the remaining deer parts were forfeited to the Crown.
Court heard that on Nov. 28, 2016, Couch was hunting by himself and killed a male deer on a property near Belleville. Couch did not attach his own game seal to the animal, as required, but instead contacted an individual who was not actively hunting at the time. Upon arrival at the site, the second person affixed their game seal to Couch’s dead deer. Couch then continued to hunt deer alone on various days in December, 2016, even though his own game seal should have been attached to the deer he had shot in November.
Earlier this year, the second individual, a Prince Edward County man, pleaded guilty and was fined a total of $1,500 for attaching his game seal to Couch’s deer and later hunting deer on his own without a valid licence.

A $200K fine would have been something. With that kind of a penalty I think I would read the hunting summary twice: backwards and forwards. Good he got caught and fined. He must have been bow hunting during late season.
