Has anyone heard of wild boar being seen in the wilds of Ontario?? I saw a picture of 12 running down a road and the person who posted swears that the pic was taken at the beginning of spring and 2.5 hours north of Toronto..can this be true??

Yes its possible however more likely the result of an escape pig from a local farm. Such encounters need to be immediately reported to The MNR an usually dealt with ASAP like an infestation of rats.
So No there isn't a huntable population of wild boar out in the wilds. Lets put it this way while out hunting deer or small game how many do you actually see? Now figure the likely hood of running into a feral pig might as well go hunt Unicorns.

I plan on going wild boar hunting next year in Sweden. Apparently in Sweden hunting wild boar at night is not only acceptable but is expected. These animals are a pest to farmers in Europe and I hear they are huge. I already have my 300 WSM with an illuminated reticle sighted-in and ready for boar hunting at night. Can barely wait. Will post a report on the hunt when it's done. (Hopefully I will have some nice pic's too.)

deerhunter

I have hunted wild boar in Germany on several occasions. yes they can be large but these are rarely seen. they are hunted at night during a full moon and are very nervous animals. they do populate quickly but with hunting they are kept well under control and they taste fantastic. managed properly, this would be a valuable hunting opportunity in this country but as I said managed properly. best of luck to you

A co-worker went to Florida last year and did a guide hunt with dogs. Their choice of weapon was a knife. Dogs held down the wild pig and you jump on it and knife it. The guides are really strict on taking videos as there are too many P.E.T.A lurking the web.
