Slow slow opening day. Very few gun shots and even less seen. This morning was much more productive but yet again, nothing worth taking a poke at this early on.

I leave tomorrow morning for my 7 day hunt. I am So Excited. It's finally here. Talked to another hunter this morning who is hunting where I will be hunting. So far no luck. Nothing seen. I think the deer are waiting for the cold snap before they start moving. And I feel the rut is just about to start in a big way.

Slow in our camp. Three deer gotten over Monday and Tuesday (8-man group), and fewer buck being seen. Friday looks good with the huge temperature drop; hopefully it will get the big boys moving. Good luck all.

Old man got one this morning, a small 9 pointer. Saw more movement yesterday and tons of shots in the area. Nothing worth taking a poke at yet for myself.

I was out Tuesday. Seen 5 does and 2 bucks. 1buck at 68yards but could not get a good shot so I let him walk. Had a doe at 40 yards but let her go also. I’m not big on taking does. I have in the past when the bucks were not around. Also have to dec 31st with the bow.

Sounds about right. 6 points or more for me until late in the season when it then becomes big old does and hopefully singles that don't have little ones following. With a rifle season and two powder seasons and then the remainder of Dec with bow, there is no reason to be shooting the little ones off the hop.

Thanks guys. Had a little spike buck running around that we nicknamed the devil buck and I knew that he wasn't the only one wandering around because the tracks we saw setting up the tree stand were too big for him. Now to find the old big buck that has been avoiding the hunting seasons for the past 3 years so the GF can get on the score board....
