It's been a long dry season for myself vs deer with the Xcal, Either no deer , too far , not what I wanted or crappy winds ...
That changed this week , Went out on Thurs am for a short hunt ,7:30 ...4 deer heading towards my stand ..no horns ..that's ok ..already got a basement full and ma fisher says "you can't eat them anyway"..
They got hung up at 45 yds , Held my breath but they knew something was amiss , they drifted off after 10 min..Double damm...
Went back tonite , xmas eve but with the temps and winds figured my last shot for this year ,In my stand at 3;15 , nice quiet nite , east winds which was good ...sat and watched ..nothing ..hold it .. 4:00 two does coming towards my stand ..once again they got hung up at about 40 yds .. I sat and with xbow up and them in the crosshairs for 14 min ..the shakes yes (have a neat little watch that sticks to my bow}..
Finally one took a few steps and crossed into my preferred shooting range..25 yds.. Nice broadside shot ..Done ..off they went like a bat out of hell but ended with a big crash up the hill,
Patted myself and waited my usual 30 min ..Easy trail , perfect double lung shot
Hey the drag out alone was "TOUGH" but we have our venison..
