Black Bear in Pefferlaw, Spring Black Bear

This was a first for me. This black bear came out from the woods behind my house and went to the neighbours trash can. It was empty so it started to walk down the street. The bear looked back at me a couple of times but kept walking slowly. Nice evening for a walk.

Man, he’s got a good head start on summer! I don’t think I’ve ever seen one that chunky that’s just come out of hibernation. Maybe he didn’t sleep, just grazed on bird feeders all winter

Bears thrive in the south as there is lots of farm food & warmer temps. That is a good looking bear for early Apr.

There's slot more bears than anyone realizes around that area. There are more bear kills than coyote kills on livestock in that area. All the farm that I hunt turkey on in the area have bear sign. Makes one a little more Leary about walking in before Sunil with an empty gun.

A few sightings of black bear around Lafontaine this week and lots of tracks in a few places.

When a farmer claims to get reimbursed for livestock kills they r supposed to sent someone to inspect the kill site to report it. When enough money starts getting paid out on bear kills, ministry of agriculture will hopefully pressure the mnr for a season or 2. I have seen trail camera of a sow with 4 cubs all healthy and chubby. Population is going up in 78a
