Had the dogs out back while i was cutting up firewood . Came inside cracked a beer open and was petting the dog around the neck and notice quite the bump . Moved away some hair and there it was a nice fat juicy deer tick .
Ended pulling out two small ones and one large one .
Just be aware of these nasty little pricks. Many of them contain a lot of bacteria and Lyme diseases . Make sure you check your self / dogs after any outdoor activity.

hope you got your dog on some anti tick meds like Advantix helps a lot. As for attached buggers I use a wet cotton swab to roll around the tick till it lets go. Done right the tick looks like one of them break dancers spinning on their head. Worst thing for the dog is to break off the head spinning it takes a lot more effort but I find the tick releases intact.

Glad you removed those nasty bugs. I check for them every time I come back from an outing. I keep reading reports that they are on the rise in Ontario. Scary stuff.

I run hound dogs for yotes and run them in a yote pen all summer where there are a lot of ticks in a swampy area. I treat my dogs with ivmeticin and never have a tick on them. Lots of other dogs that are not treated get lots of them on them. I get the pour on although it comes in many forms such as injection, oral and a paste.

Yes both dogs are on it now .
The bigger tick was inbedded In him pretty deep .
Do you still wet a cotton swap? Do you rub it with the swap in a circle motion on the tick ?
Ya I use water to use as a lube and try to revolve the tick on its axis. Slow and steady almost like taking out a screw.
I will try that if it happens again.
The wife was more freaked out than anything thats what got me to pull it out fast bc she was yapping in my ear . Lol been reading up online and that’s defantly the perrfered method .
Just herd on the radio this morning Muskoka and Simcoe county areas are on the rise for ticks this year. Many people been reporting them in.
I stopped in at the vet office today and asked her if others have been coming in with them and she said yes this year has been really bad for them .

Is the ivmeticin the same as Advantix or Hart Guard ?

Hey Dan, lots of those buggers on our property .....two years ago removed about 10 from the dog....the last two summers been using stuff from the vet that you place on the dogs fur along the spine .....once every month.....haven't had a tick since......I think it was around 120 bucks from the vet..... On a side note.....haven't found one on me yet.......wonder if the wife would spend 120 bucks on me???? Cheers Greg

Just used that solution for both of them . Wife picked it up .
Start between shoulder blades and work your away along the spine .
Some are different but this we re - apply after one month again .
