Anyone added any new "toys" to their arsenal this year? (I hear it now..... "What? Turkey hunting has toys....???")
I usually find something to try -- maybe just a hangover characteristic from fishing and tackle choice...!)
Good luck to all in the field this season.

Think I'm at the point where I am not so gullible for new "toys" when it comes to turkey hunting. Last thing I bought was a full strut tom on remote motion stake hoping to get one of those turkey fight encounters however never happened for me.
Was lucky to find not one but now 2 road killed hens over the years and turned them into full body/full feather decoys. Barley even need to call now when I put 'em out.

Nothing for me. Down sizing on the turkey stuff. Started with all the toys and added more over the first several years. Now I use maybe a hen, lots of times nothing, just make a couple calls and wait for them to come looking for me. I see lots of road kill turkeys along the 401, never thought about turning them into decoys, great idea.

I’m also carrying less “stuff” every year. No more decoys ,fake wings, fans or dozens of calls. A turkey hunter I met in the field last year reminded me of a gold miner crossing the Chilkoot trail. I’m enjoying simpler turkey hunting but each to his own.
Good luck to all this season and have a safe hunt.

That new call is a "30+ pounder", wrapped, and slung over my shoulder......? (Not even a Butterball!)

("Can't do that! If I'd measured the same way -- price/pound of fish caught -- the wife would have a good case against me in any court in the land!")

I thought it was illegal to use real animals for decoys?

Its illegal to use live decoys and electronic calls.
If its dead all bets are off

From the summary

Party hunting is not permitted for wild turkey. You are permitted to call wild turkeys for another hunter after filling your own tag(s), but you must not be in possession of a firearm when doing so. It is illegal to use live decoys or electronic calls while wild turkey hunting in Ontario. It is illegal to hunt wild turkeys within 400 metres (437 yards) of any place where bait has been deposited unless the place has been free of bait for at least seven days. Bait means corn, wheat, oats, other grain, pulse, any other feed that may attract wild turkey or any imitation of such feed. Standing crops, crops stacked in accordance with normal farming practices and grain scattered as a result of normal farming operations are not considered bait.

Those turkeys were real animals. Now they are decoys. You cant have a live pet turkey on a string and use it as a decoy. That's what the rule is.
