I feel that I'm finally getting these birds figured out (somewhat). I was able to get my first bird on April 27th, and my second today. Neither were giants, but both a blast to hunt, and will be delicious.
I was out at 6:30am, decoy was on the edge of a ridge line in a forest I hunt. I let out my first call at 6:45am, to no response. Waited 10 minutes and called again, this time I think I hear something but it was very distant. Wait another 10 minutes, call again, and this time it's on! I could hear two different gobbles both sounding within 100 yards, but I can't see them. Waited...so patiently...couldn't wait...let out a small call on the box. They gobble back, but instead of coming up the ridge in front of me, they pop out to the left. I was able to get my gun up and swung over, without them noticing, and chose my bird (7:20am).
Good luck to those with remaining tags!
