My son just completed his hunting course so he could go turkey hunting this spring. After a couple mornings with lots of birds gobbling but nothing close enough it happened. He wanted to use his 20 gauge auto so we had to get the birds under 20 yards for a clean kill.
We setup and called and had two birds answer and slowly work their way in. He shot the Jake at 22 yards and down he went. I told him to safe his gun and get over to the bird when the bird gets to its feet and tries to get away. After a spirited chase through the woods he puts in a finisher and has his bird. Special moments like these don’t come along very often so we sat back and enjoyed it.
