Renting hunting land?

Does anyone on here rent hunting land for bow season or rifle season? If so how much do you pay?

Never herd of this here ... more so down south (state side)

Start knocking on doors . Offer some help on farms .....

Also , northern Ontario has plenty of crown land spots .

Happens all the time in southern Ontario. Depending on exclusivity and if it’s just deer or waterfowl, maybe coyote? Lots of guys use a land lease for hunting and training dogs. A group of six around here is approx $3000 for a season for 100 acres.

I do rent my hunting spot. I pay 1000$ a year for 400 acres with a camp on. But I redid the camp that's why it is not more expensive. I have access to an other 800 from the neighbour for free and also an other 500 acres crownland in the middle of 3 owners.

so 1000$ for 2 hunter, bear, moose, deer, grouse, maple syrup, speckle trout ice fishing.

I think its not bad.

I don't mind paying, that way I have exclusivity and help the owner to pay his taxes on the land.

I agree I don't like hearing about paying to hunt land. Down here any spot that is good for waterfowl is rented and has been for 40 years. In the end I think we all pay one way or another to hunt bush property. I bake pies, cookies, make jam and bring to the farmer several times a year. The grand kids look forward to me coming as I always have something. So how much are a 12 pies worth and a 12 dozen cookies a 20 jars of jam worth. Maybe a good bottle of Scotch that we share together. Mind you the farmer keeps telling me I don't have to do that, but I still do and will do for as long is I can.

Not much crown land in southern Ontario so it is at a premium and rentals are the norm. A little north and crown land is everywhere.

Thanks guys for the input, the reason I ask is we have 140 acers of a mix of fields and bush. No one will be hunting it this season so we are considering having some one rent it for bow season or rifle. Its located in Trent lakes near crystal lake. just not sure what to do

Very bad president to set. But for the last 10 years I have felt it coming. Soon we will all have to pay to hunt on private property.

How's I see it if you are not going to use it and already have paid for it ie taxes at the very least than 1/4 of the taxes is fair for exclusive use for the bow season.
I'm not a fan of paying to hunt but private land has been bought and paid for by someone. Plenty of crown if you want to hunt for free.
Granted its a bit different if you are an occasional day use situation where simple gratuities is sufficient
