Looking to try hunting ducks on simcoe hopefully as far south in cooks bay as possible. I have never hunted their before and I’m curious as to how busy it typically is. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You can do ok, best to go mid week, pic the right wind, and get to where the birds come.and go from. The later in the year the better

I've only hunted Cooks bay later in the season. It can be a great shoot. The first time was windy and drizzle and we did real well with a good mixed bag of puddle ducks and bluebills. The next time I went, was a sunny bluebird day. We had one mallard over the decoys that should have been shot at least 6 times, but somehow managed to avoid all the steel! LOL

That was a couple years back, and I haven't had time to get back since. Both of my trips were weekdays as well.
Good luck if you make it out!

Double check the map, but I believe that the Innisfil side of the bay you can not, but Georgina side you can. (Damn confusing! LOL)

Gentleman (And ladies if I’ve missed the mark) I’m new to the forum, and new to Georgina (Roches Point)...but thought I’d chime in. There is NO gun hunting on Sunday in Georgina BUT water is not regulated by them so the OFAH map is right, but also wrong. I don’t hear shots on sundays out here (I’m close to the water) but every other night of the week is like Canada day, sounds like some guys are doing well and others are just looking to get rid of old ammo!

I’ve spoke to MNR, Georgina, YRP and OPP so once you touch water your fair game. No shore regulations just common sense rule, don’t shoot towards shore or your buddies.

I just moved up to Roches point, looking for some guys to hunt with up here most of my buddies are in the west now, so if anyone needs an extra gun (and decoys) give me a shout. my dog died earlier this year when I got diagnosed with cancer, she passed from it as well out the blue but I can still retrieve! Got a small duck boat good for 2 guys and dog (made for marsh hunting but can handle cooks bay). I’m a young guy with a few birds/deer/turkey and others under my belt and would love to meet some guys up here even it’s just for grouse and rabbits

The "no gun hunting on sundays in Goergina" is incorrect. I just re-read the bylaw and it doesnt mention any day of the week, so there is no prohibition for gun hunting on sundays.

K289 I hunt Simcoe mostly towards Orillia but am always open to other areas. Like yourself I have a small duck boat is a makeshift scissor blind. Few dozen decoys divers, puddles, geese. No dog. Always looking to get out preferably later in the season. By no means a pro and looking to pick up on a few things. My duck partner moved west. I icefish up your way for perch a lot to. If you’re looking for another guy sometime send me a PM. I hate early mornings but love duck hunting.

Lazinator, when I spoke to Georgina bylaw they told me no Sunday gun hunting (land) but again, water isn’t regulated by them so it’s fair game on the lake. I was going to go one morning to a couple of the tracts up here for some grouse but wanted to make sure and they said No so just make sure your area is outside the Georgina boundaries.

Sabotfish tried sending you a PM wouldn’t let me try shooting me one when you get a chance

Here's the link to the Georgina firearms bylaw
http://live-georgina.pantheon.io/sites/def..._90-35pwe_1.pdf
Its linked from here:
https://www.georgina.ca/municipal-government/regulatory-laws

Ask them where in it does it state no Sunday firearms discharge.

That’s the bylaw I read through and totally agree with you thus why I called to make sure cause I didn’t want to get slapped with a $2000.00 fine..that’s one expensive grouse or rabbit!
