Well since I didn't have the dog (Sam) with me last night, I decided to see what she would or could do 16 hours later and I still had quad on trailer. To set the stag, the deer from the Day 3 post, after been shot ran diagonally out into field. I would guess between 2 and 300yds. It started to rain when I got to the deer. So today after the 16 hours and raining for many hours and wind strong wind going from us to the pile so no sent. I jumped on the quad and Sam followed me the 600yds to the bush. Got off short of shot spot, walked with her to about where the deer was, told her to find. She first went back to bush, but I told her again to find the deer. No blood to be seen, she starts crisscrossing and going in correct direction. after maybe 50yds she stops and sniffs, so I go have a look, corn stalk with blood. she keeps going zigzagging back and forth, but still going in the correct direction. So I just walk up the middle and start to see more blood now and then. She goes right to the pile with out missing a beat.
I'm so proud of Samantha.
