This story appeared on my Facebook feed last week and the number of people from Northern Ontario that commented seeing a cougar numbered substantially.
I saw one 5 km south of Latchford in early June 2019. Reported it to the MNR. Had a picture of the paw prints on the shoulder of the road.

They have been seen in around Bancroft area which isn’t far for Fenelon or Buckhorn if you consider how big their range can be. There have been tracks found in Hockley Valley years ago. Mono also has documented tracks and droppings but no sightings.
I full believe they are here just ultra rare and very good at avoiding people.

agree they are around and have always been in Ontario, even though the MNR said for years that there hasn't been any for over a 100 years. I seen one in 1970 out side of North Bay. They are just real good at hiding and not being seen.
