Epic moose hunt, Thanks Bill.. fishnhunt

2022 moose hunt ... sorry long read ..

Seems there was a bull tag drawn for an area not too far away ,and a great member was good enough to hook this old fart up with a gang that had hunted for years together...

My lifelong buddy Marv and I headed off on the 15th for an new adventure , the road in was ok for the first 10 k then went downhill the trailer with one of our atvs blew a tire in the last 5 k in , slight delay .. arrived at camp to be greeted by a gang of total strangers .. had a beer ...

Lots of intros , all revved for the Monday opening , seemed like a great gang , I,ve never hunted with a large group before , if was always "BEAR" and I, Sunday was spent making a game plan for opening ..

Opening day , up at 5 , coffee , great breakfast and high enthusiasm , off we went to prearranged posts .. Think we had 14 guns in the bush but no sightings or responses , no fear Tuesdays another day...


Up early Tuesday , same game plan , all went to our selected spots .. 8am three shots , pause then 2 more ..moose down ,hunt over , guns away ..

Now the fun seems a bull was downed in a small swamp back in quite a ways , the gang collected and headed down to the site , my old legs took me down after a few stumbles , after cutting a trail we had machines and guys at site , Im watching as they hook up the bull and look over my shoulder .. there stood the CO..


Young Co turned out to be a great guy , notched the tag in front of him, all was good , no hassles or problems ..did give me a bit of grace ...

Onward two machines hooked to moose ..tire blows , well...finally up to the road ..Whew . .. hey I almost forgot , believe it or nor our host was the shooter and he had a young lad of 7 yrs old with him , the bull was called out and answered the lad said hes talking to us !!

All good , bull was loaded into truck and back to camp ' hung up after a few mishaps ..

That evening time to celebrate , A few toasts and a great dinner with spirits..

Hey Dave…I’m glad everything worked out so well. Great report and pictures and nice to see George’s grandson in on the action. He won’t forget and is hooked for life. Enjoy your moose meat.
